Here is the cry of our heart; that God would speak to us. For Him to do so is life and health and peace. The Almighty speaks and it happens. With a word, the Lord decides and the works of our hands prosper; health courses though our bones and still waters rule our hearts. We pray that He would not be silent. We not only want the Lord to speak to us, we want Him to speak for us. We pray that He would reply to those who oppress others; that He would answer those who wage war. “Have it your way!” This slogan might sell hamburgers but we should hope that God never says these words to us, at least not in the sense that He is abandoning us to our own devises. When Jesus told us to ask for God to “deliver us” from temptation, the word may be translated, “drag us.” In other words, in sober moments when we are thinking clearly, we pray, “Lord I may want to give in to my sinful desires but I am asking you to not let me; to drag me away if You have to.” 5/28/2009 Conversations Within ts
