“Blessed are those whose strength is in you.” Ps.84.5 ESV
When I consider that the word “blessed” might also be translated “happy,” it forces me to think about what makes me happy. I have experienced the difference between pleasure and joy and although many pleasures bring me joy not all of them do; I speak of course of unlawful or stolen pleasures. Sometimes when I have tasted a pleasure, even a lawful one and have done so without the strength of God--I mean guided by Him, every pleasure not only fails to bring joy, without His fellowship they inevitably produce misery. Happy is the person who is guided by the strength of Christ’s presence in everything they do. Amazingly, His presence can turn even hardship into joy. 6/3/2009 Conversations Within ts

On the Murder of a Murderer.

I was asked the other day what thoughts I had about the murder of Dr. Tiller the infamous late term abortionist. Those who believe that abortion is the murder of innocent life may be tempted to say that the man who shot him simply stopped a murderer from committing other intended murders. But, this vigilante clearly took to himself what God has assigned to government. By doing so, he stepped outside God’s appointed means for administering justice and became an injustice himself. Many passages in the whole of Scripture indicate that certain kinds of justice should be collectively administered. “There are times when silence has the loudest voice” Leroy Brownlow
“O God, do not keep silence.” Ps.83.1 ESV
Here is the cry of our heart; that God would speak to us. For Him to do so is life and health and peace. The Almighty speaks and it happens. With a word, the Lord decides and the works of our hands prosper; health courses though our bones and still waters rule our hearts. We pray that He would not be silent. We not only want the Lord to speak to us, we want Him to speak for us. We pray that He would reply to those who oppress others; that He would answer those who wage war. Speak Lord, as You have spoke and create the world anew in Christ. 6/1/2009 Conversations Within ts
