Better to be used than to be of no use at all.

It is not in someone’s best interest to allow them to consistently use and abuse you. But to make yourself useful to them can be a transforming grace. If it does not change them, it will certainly change you. Some have been forced resentfully into service, others have humbly and powerfully made themselves servants of all.
