God does not intend that the focus of our lives is only dying to selfishness, but to also rise up to a new life of love. Do not keep looking back at what you should give up. Rather look forward to what you can gain. Die to self, yes, but by means rise up and live. It is not what we deny, but what we embrace, that defines our experience of God.
