Some regard life as a trade off--you gain one thing only to lose another. Jesus tells it somewhat differently. He did not tell us to lose our life just for the sake of losing it. He promises that by losing it, we gain it and more. It should not surprise us that the Author of Creation puts it this way, “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it can only be a single seed.
