Jesus gives us a straightforward and simple formula for a wholesome life in two simple encouragements. First, love God. Second, love others as you love yourself. One can even reverse the order. One of the best ways to love yourself, is to love others, and doing so is one way we love God. The rest of the Bible is mainly wisdom on how we can effectively love.
