The prospect of living forever excites me. It can bring focus to the present moment like nothing else. One of life’s purposes is enjoyment and living in the light of eternity sharpens what I choose to enjoy. Temporal pleasures? Sure, when they are taken from God’s hand. But Christ offers so much more than mere pleasure; He offers joy. Not one day in Heaven, but the unfading joy of this moment joined inseparably to all the other moments to come, and all in the rapture of God’s love for me and my love for Him.
