I have often wondered why people say that “regret is a waste of time.” I suppose it is if all we do is sit around and feel sad because we messed up, or failed to take advantage of some opportunity. The truth is that we should bemoan both of these things but only as a precursor to not repeating them by learning from them, even making restitution for them if necessary.
