For some, the fear of the Lord is more than a restraining influence; it is coupled with a resentment that He will punish them for doing what they really want to do. God is little more than a cop when you don’t want one. For others, the fear of God is a loving respect and humble acceptance of His directives as the path and pleasure of life.
