“Faith is not knowledge of an object but communion with it.” Nicolás Gómez Dávila

“And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Jesus

The way we remember can be just as important as what we remember. Rote memory may be fine when it comes to the multiplication tables but it won’t do for things like marriage vows or Communion. When Jesus told us to remember Him, He probably had in mind that we keep our vital connection with Him not that we go through the motions of some ritual. But worship rituals can serve our connection just as courtship rituals can keep a romance in a marriage. The key is to be truly there, not just go through the motions.  Conversations Within” ts 9/25/2013 (Selma, AL)
