“Bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1Tim.4It seems, at least for the present, we must acquire a taste for many things that are good for us. Eating right, exercise and most spiritual activities are all disciplines because they require discipline to practice them. This is true for just about everything that is good for us. Physical and spiritual health are desirable but we must teach ourselves to love the rigors that bring us health as much as the rewards--the disciplines that promote it as much as the dividends.
