“No matter how bad things are, you can always make things worse.” Henry David Thoreau:

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” James 1

Running out of gas can be bad; pitching a temper tantrum because you have can make it worse. Complaining about a bad situation will often make it worse. Our response to tough times can improve or injure. Our attitude decides which. We may have no control over what happens to us, but we have complete control over what goes on in us.
