When deciding a course of action it is wise to know the difference between pleasure and joy. Joy enables us to experience pleasure without doubt, guilt or fear. Joy completes pleasure like childbirth completes a pregnancy. Pleasure without joy is to miscarry. It is wise to choose nothing that offers pleasure but has no joy in it.
