If there was ever an example of how something good can be bad when it is not joined properly to one’s relationship with God, it is in our desire to be authentic. When joined to God, being honest with ourselves, and with others, is a good thing. But raw honesty, expressed without love, can be downright hurtful. Just ask someone who has felt the brunt of living with a person who is always speaking their mind or acting out how they feel with no thought for anyone but themselves.
