God is the great and good Shepherd, and we are His--His to love, to cherish, and to look after with tender affection. Is this not the quintessential belonging. He is not only the Great Shepherd of the sheep, He is the Good Shepherd. What would His goodness be without His greatness to insure it? What would His greatness be without His goodness to give it meaning? Remember the childhood prayer: “God is great, God is good!” Declare it everyday to your heart!
