“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” Dalai Lama

Compassion happens when our heart truly discerns suffering in others and moves us to respond with unconditioned kindness. To do this we must often look past our own feelings so we can bring into focus the feelings, not just the actions of others. Someone may lash out at me in anger; compassion looks past our own hurt, and sees the hurt in them that is tempting them to act the way they are and respond not in kind but in kindness.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Col.3.12  Conversations Within” ts 7/9/2018
