“Grace is not given because we have done good works, but in order that we may be able to do them.” St Augustine

God’s favor is often an unconditional expression of grace, even so, there are things we do that please Him and some things we do that don’t. Grace, not good works, is the basis of our acceptance before Him. This does not mean that we should not do good works. Indeed, God gives us grace for that very purpose. The problem is twofold. One is when we start trusting our good works, rather than trusting His grace. The other is to think we can accept grace and ignore its design to lead us to good works.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph.2.10 “Conversations Within” ts 3/10/2019
