Faithfulness is the very essence of marriage. Faithfulness says, “I pledge myself to you and no other.” Love moves us to make this commitment; it is also is what enables us to keep it--not the love of feelings mind you, but the love of loyalty. Faithfulness says, “I am yours and yours alone.” I may see other attractions, it might even be my instinct to desire them, but I give myself, body and soul only to you.
