Like a good many people I usually react when provoked. I would rather respond calmly. There are no shortcuts to this kind of transformation. If I want to stay calm, cool and collected as we say, then I have to practice it, and practice it until it becomes second nature. Of course the only way to practice some things is in a live performance. Of course we can rehearse staying calm in our mind. It may just be that it is before I am slapped on the cheek, that I can do a dress rehearsal to turn the other.
