There are certain things that we must trust solely to God if they will ever become a reality. I believe one is asking Him to create a pure heart in us. We look to Him to do something we cannot do ourselves. We may cooperate with Him of course. This is very much like the cry of a drowning man to the lifeguard. Pure undiluted trust is expressed in the prayer that says I can’t but You can. If we want a pure heart we can ask God to create what we can not conjure.
