Why do bad things happen to good people? 

There are some genuinely good people, but no one is morally blameless. We have all done things we know we should not have done. There are consequences for doing so. A hostile Universe is one of them. Man’s rebellion against the Creator and His designs has introduced sickness, death and danger into the world. God allows this, but it does not mean that He is punishing someone who dies from cancer or who lies under the rubble of an earthquake. Not everything in our fallen world is good. We all have contributed to this mess. Still, God is able to work good out of every bad when we love Him.
