The first recorded sermon of Jesus began with the words “Blessed are.” Another good way to translate these words would be, “Happy are.” There is little doubt that one intention that God has toward the people made in His image is simple happiness. One way that we can look at all the commands in Scripture is simply to see them, not in some military or police fashion, but as the loving invitation of a Father to get the most out of what He has prepared for us.
