We could also say the struggle is a "necessary" part of the story. Positive change is often uphill, upstream, and we must climb up, or wade against the current if we want to cooperate with inner transformation. If we are not struggling in one fashion or another, we are probably not maturing. Struggle is a good sign that God is “working in us to will and do His good pleasure.”
