Love your enemies…so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.
When Jesus tells us to love our enemies, he is not saying that we should have warm feeling about them but we are to act in a beneficial manner towards them. This is not to say that we help them in the way they think will benefit them, but we do what will actually be in their best interest. This may mean in war that we defeat them as we did Japan and then rebuild their economy around peaceful purposes. How we would accomplish this with personal enemies may look different but it will nonetheless always come down to seeking their highest good.
