God can only restore the soul of one who admits that they need restoration. He cannot return us to the path until we understand that we are not on it. We cannot be found until we face up to the fact that we are lost. Even so, grace will often start just there. Grace can melt the cold fingers of selfishness that grip our heart. No matter how far we have strayed, He will come, find and restore us.
