To say that things happen for a reason, presupposes some meaning to life, even if the reason eludes us at the time. But for many, this is a simple expression of a personal faith, not only that God is working in the background, but that He has good intentions toward those who trust Him. Such trust affirms not only that things always happen for a reason, but they happen for a good reason because they are overseen by a good God.
