There is no better way to forget your own troubles than to direct your energies out toward loving others. Every moment we spend thinking about ourselves is waste. Every moment spent loving people is lasting treasure. What better way to spend your day than loving people. Jesus wasn't fooling around when He said that to give is to receive. But some would ask if it isn't ultimately self-serving to think like this? I suppose it can be. But God created people with a natural inclination for happiness. The problem isn't with our happiness, only with the selfish ways we seek it. I think it is safe to say that people can never be totally self-less but that doesn't mean we have to be totally selfish. The problem isn't when we do something that makes us happy, but when we do it only to make us happy. That's the beautiful thing about love.
