The success of the social network Facebook I suppose is one illustration that people need some kind of witness to their lives. We marry, nurture friendships, create working relationships and even have enemies because something in us innately desires a connection to other living things.
Actually, if you think about it, living as a witness to others is not a bad way to live. I am not referring to life only as a spectator but as a supporter, an encourager, a person that adds meaning to the lives of others if only because we allow others to share their life with us. After all, doesn't sharing complete an experience? What is a song, a poem, or an adventure if there is no one with whom to share it?
