My friend, a doctor, once gave a lecture to some of my students. His subject was pain and his message: “Pain is good!” Pain is a gift from God, although it does not seem so when you are having it. Pain tells us when something is not as it should be. It warns us of greater danger if we do not act. It even becomes a coach moving us to act. Nobody likes pain, but the simple truth is that it is a great teacher with life giving lessons. God does more than permit pain, he uses it and always for gain.
