“God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
We assume that God wants to help us in our efforts to improve. This is probably a good assumption as long as we remember that God will stand in our way if our improvements feed our pride. Personal accomplishment is often a platform for our pride. We boast that we used to do this or that but now have risen above such things. All virtues can feed the vice of pride if they are not learned in humility and the recognized help of the Spirit. Conversations Within ts 12/25/2012 (Bham, AL)
