Ritual is regarded by some to be empty and dead and it certainly can be. But for thousands it is one means to express great love for God. This is why some can recite the Lord’s Prayer with deep emotion and ardent love, and others just repeat it. Praying a written prayer can be just as sincerely expressed as one made up on the spot.
