If we do not rule our passions, our passions will certainly rule us. But not every passion is evil. We may lust for things which are good. We may earnestly desire and pursue those things which bring us the superior delights of joy. We are even encouraged to do so. There are fleshly lusts which hinder and hurt, but there are also the inner passions of the soul which move us to run after God.
