Just me trying to be honest with God.

Christ doesn't want to renovate our house, he wants to tear it down and start again.

“A dog returns to his own vomit, and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

If these words are true, is there any chance of lasting reform? We’ve all seen or heard of sinner turned saint but sadly, we’ve also seen or heard of saint return to sinner. The great reformer Martin Luther understood it this way. The Christian, in this life, is simultaneously saint and sinner. We are at any given moment capable of powerful expressions in each direction, terrible brutality or gracious compassion. But I suppose the real question is whether the changes in us are because of Christ or simply some prideful attempt at self-improvement. If the changes in us are because of Christ, we may be sure they will continue. If they sprout from pride, well, the seed becomes the plant that sowed it. 10/7/2009 Conversations Within ts
