The human capacity to appreciate beauty is unmatched except for our ability to recognize ugly when we see it. And, we do see ugliness, as much in us as we do around us. That we discern ugliness is as much evidence of our spiritual nature as is our love of beauty. When people see ugliness be it selfishness, disease, or tragedy, we immediately know that something is wrong and that sense of wrongness tells us that things are not as they should be. God's Spirit helps us realize that we are a part of all that is wrong in the world and that for the world to be made right again we must be made right again.
