Do we dare say that millions suffer poverty, disease and oppression because they trust in idols? To affirm this is not to say that every instance where people suffer is because they worship a false god or gods. But Jesus affirmed the very Scriptures that teach the terrible consequences of putting false hope in a false god. I think what bothers most people is not that there are consequences because of poor choices but that there are consequences, which spill over on others. A pregnant woman who happens to be addicted to heroin will give birth to an addicted baby. A drunken father who smokes in bed may not only burn himself but his children sleeping in the next room. Many children in this world are suffering because their parents have made poor choices regarding faith. 4/10/2009 Conversations Within ts
