There is a kind of wisdom that comes from the simple know how of experience and the inclination to choose it. The devil is said to have wisdom of that sort. He is wise in the ways of malicious deceit and knows all the ends and outs of perversion. He is an experienced thief and knows well the devious means to steal joy from others. He is always baiting us to trade true happiness for temporal pleasure and all that is authentic for all that is artificial. He is the master of lies and compromise is one of his favorite ploys. But no matter how skilled his deception, he cannot remove the stench of selfishness from his foul breath even when he barters a pleasure he has stolen from God. 8/27/2009 Conversations Within ts
