Presents are wrapped. I think one reason for this is that it builds the anticipation of joy in both the giver and receiver; the unveiling not just the gift but the very act of sharing between friends. Gifts are given and they are also received. A gift that isn't received is no gift at all. It is the receiving of the gift that completes the joy of giving it. So it is with the greatest gift. What is God's offer of forgiveness if we do not accept it from Him. What is the gift of Jesus if men reject Him.
