“An apology is a good way to have the last word.” Author Unknown

“Forgive us...as we also forgive” Mt.6 ESV

Learning how to ask forgiveness seems a necessary skill if we are to have and maintain healthy relationships. Apart of that skill is knowing the difference in saying your sorry and actually asking the offended party for forgiveness. When we say we are sorry we may be focused only on the guilt of our offense but to ask forgiveness we are certainly focused on the relationship and humbly seeking to reconcile it. The simple expression, “I was wrong, will you forgive me,” gives the offended party the opportunity both to give grace and at the same time to receive grace for giving it. Of course when it is our turn, learning to say the words , “I forgive you,” and say them with just as much humility, is of equal importance. 1/8/2011 Conversations Within ts (West Monroe, LA)
