Love is so much more than how you feel about your mate. It is how you treat them. Love seeks the highest good of the person you love. You love them even on the days you don't like them. There is no better place to practice the radical teachings of Jesus about love than in a marriage. To answer your mate with kindness when they are being cruel is his universal formula for loving people. The love that Jesus speaks about is a deliberate act of the will to always treat your mate as you would be treated, not because you feel like it but because it is the nature of real love to do so.
