I think we all could use a healthy dose of skepticism about our personal understanding of the Bible. Yet, if we are to follow Jesus we must learn to doubt our understandings of the Bible without doubting the Bible itself. I think this, more than any other thing, should persuade us to seek more in our relationship with God than just our doctrinal summaries of Scripture. This is why God not only gave us the Bible; He gave us the Holy Spirit as a companion. The Bible is like a map to help guide us in life but the Spirit is a personal guide showing us how to use the map. Conversations Within ts 3/23/2012 (Selma, AL)
