“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over....” I have come to appreciate just how spiritual people are. People have soul. We have soul because we are a soul. We put soul into everything we do. This quality sets us apart from all other living things. It is the reason for art, for music, jokes, theater, novels, surfing and scientific study. Jesus taught us to believe that we are uniquely spiritual because we are made in the image of God. People are so much more than the body that houses us. It is the soul that seeks meaning in life, beyond a mere physical existence. We certainly eat, seek protection, and reproduce like animals, but humans live for so much more or at least we should. Rise up and live beyond another day another dollar.
