“Respect your efforts, respect yourself.

Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that's real power.” Clint Eastwood

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus

The words of Jesus to love our neighbor surely encourage us to love ourselves as well. If we do not have a proper self respect we have no proper way to measure giving respect to others. It is then important to love yourself if we are to love others. The highest form of self-respect is when we aggressively seek what is good for both the body and soul. This will naturally overflow to those we love. Most of the time when we fail to show respect to someone it is a symptom that we have little or no respect for ourselves.
