Peter is telling us that he witnessed a dead man rise from the grave. He saw the resurrected Christ not just a resuscitated man barely back from the dead. Peter was one among many who saw Jesus not only alive but alive and well. I for one cannot simply dismiss the eyewitness testimony of credible men and women who claim to have witnessed someone conquer death. These people do not write as religious fanatics or as co-conspirators of a cruel hoax. I have good reason to believe them as I would believe any person of creditable reputation.
