Write with blood: and you will discover that blood is spirit.” Friedrich Nietzsche

For you know that it was not with perishable things…that you were redeemed…but with the precious blood of Christ…” 1Pt.1.18-19 NIV

When the Apostle elevates the precious blood of Christ above perishable matter, he probably wasn’t referring to the physical corpora of cells that flowed from the wounds of Jesus but the redeeming value of His sinless sacrifice. Perishable blood became imperishable by what it secured when it was spilt. The blood of every solider shed on the battlefield of freedom is elevated with similar distinction. The import of this can be measured on many levels. One is that physical matter—that, which is perishable, may be used to secure something spiritual and imperishable. This is not to say that we may buy heaven with money. But certainly perishable money can be used in such a manner that it secures imperishable reward. But so can our time, our house, our car, whatever we employ for spiritual purposes. Our physical lives are not meant to be preserved but sacrificed. 9/7/2009 Conversations Within ts
