Just me trying to be honest with God.

The rote prayer only lacks sincerity when we have mentally “checked out” while repeating it.

Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." James 4.15 NIV

These words will serve us better as an attitude than if we just tack them on to the end of a sentence about the plans we are making tomorrow. I would also think that prayers concluded by saying, “In Jesus name,” are not always offered in the true spirit of His name. Just saying one of these postscripts does not mean that we use then properly, especially if we say them superstitiously, believing that God will resist our plans or refuse to answer our prayer if we don’t say them. 8/31/2009 Conversations Within ts
