“Uncertainty and mystery are energies of life. Don't let them scare you unduly…” R. I. Fitzhenry

“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” Mt.6.27 ESV

Not only are we unable to add a single hour to our life by worrying, we do not know but that the next hour may be our last. Strange as that may seem, not knowing the hour of one’s death can be a powerful ally to help disarm our worries. Why worry about taxes, or bills, or getting cancer, when you may not survive the next hour. Think of all the concerns that would melt into nothing if we were to depart this life within the hour. Of course, we may choose to worry about that as we may choose to worry about everything else outside the illusion of our control. When we accept our death as one of the ingredients of life and realize who is baking the cake, is there any cause for alarm? 1/6/2010 Conversations Within ts
