We may be sure that there are matters that God would never leave to our charge just as there are things that must be. God knows when to trust us and when not to. There are things that concern our salvation that God alone must perform because if they were left up to us, we would surely perish. But there are aspects of the Christian life that God must leave to our care. One that I can think of is simply our love for Him, because for love to be love it must be freely given. This of course does not mean that He does not help us with our love for Him. He surely does that, for without Him we can do nothing. I think that when God leaves matters in our hands He does so precisely so that we will ask for His help, even if it is only to be encouraged. 4/21/2010 Conversations Within ts
