“Excellence is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.” John W. Gardner

“...if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Php.4 ESV

I do not think it wise to confuse excellence with being a perfectionist. A perfectionist attitude can not only ruin your day but everybody else's day around you. Trying to get something perfect is not the same as trying to do it well. There are many things that do the job well that do not have to be perfect. A stick will stir a pot as well as any golden spoon. Trying to get it perfect will inevitably bring disappointment. Many Thanksgiving meals have been ruined by perfectionists as have weddings and birthdays and anything where the pursuit of excellence is confused with getting it perfect. 9/24/11 Conversations Within ts (Camp Farrington, AL)
