Most adults understand the value of instruction for children. Wisdom teaches us to never forget its value to us. Maturity is not outgrowing our need to obey good instruction but learning to value it as the means to wisdom and joyful living. Children often obey because of the fear of punishment if they do not. This will only work for a while. This fear is properly replaced by respect for authority and eventually a love for wisdom. God is the personification of wisdom so learning to fear Him, respect Him, love Him is all it means to mature and be wise.
