Love does not boast or call attention to itself, neither does a modest person. I think the essential quality of true modesty is to have a proper perspective about oneself, especially in relation to God and to others. Simply put, we are put here to love, to be an overflowing spring not a holding tank. A modest person is never “Here I am,” but “There you are.” A modest person is too busy considering others than to waste energy drawing attention to themselves.
